The Himalayan Mountains
The Himilayas are located in Asia, and is home to the largest mountain on the planet's surface, Mt Everest. This astounding mountain range was formed more than a million years ago by an uplifting collision between the plate boundaries of the Indo-Australian and the Eurasian plates.
When the two plates collided, the light sedimentary rocks on the surface were pushed up by the constant force of the plates' motion. This movement and upward growth continues still today, with the mountain in the himilayas growing at an average of 2cm/year.
